Mr. Michio Matsui, married into (what was then, one of Japan's smaller stock broker firms), Matsui Securities Co. He changed his name to his wife's father's surname (she has no male siblings) so that people would believe that Mr. Michio Matsui was the true son of his wife's father.

Matsui, who learned as a schoolboy in the radicalized Sixties that accepted practices were always open to question, joined Matsui Securities in 1987. It was his wife's family's firm, run by her father. And since there were no sons in the family to run the business in the future, Matsui adopted his current name and prepared for that role. In those days, the firm was a traditional brokerage achieving none-too-spectacular results. As the nature of the securities business began to change all around it, Matsui Securities stayed on the bottom rung of the ladder in terms of sales performance. But not for long. 
Maybe Mr. Michio Matsui is lazy with his talents or is one of those insecure and stressed out sad people who just will never do anything  (or is not capable of doing anything) original in his life, (but does know how to cheat people out of their money, steal people's copyrighted material and lie to the Japanese public).
